On Mount Rainier's north side is a very accessible and crowded area of alpine meadows known as Spray Park. Along the way, you'll pass the very popular Eagle's Roost campsite, then the turnoff to Spray Falls. Take the turnoff and go the short distance to the base of this waterfall for a cool blast before continuing the short remaining climb to Spray Park.

At Spray Park you will find miles of open country and wildflowers. People, too, of course, this being a short and notoriously beautiful hike. The Wonderland Trail continues from here to a 6400' ridge above Mist Park, on to Cataract Point and the Carbon River park entrance.
If you plan to spend the night, remember a few regulations about the park that might hinder your enjoyment: The Park Service requires all backpackers to have permits. ALL camping is in designated campgrounds BY RESERVATION. Permits and reservations are obtained IN PERSON through an arcane and overtly frustrating system. Plan ahead!
Stats: 3 miles, elevation gain 1000'.
Getting there: Drive to the Mowich entrance on the northwest corner of the park. The trailhead is easy to find.
