Snoquera Falls

"I would definitely recommend this trip to a friend."

A great trip for families with kids, people who just want a time to themselves, or waterfall lovers. Park at the Camp Sheppard trailhead, and hit the trail. The trail is a little confusing, as it winds past the Boy Scout Camp campfire area, so watch for signs. Just past the campfire, the trail curves around to the right and follows an old road uphill to a major junction (another trail stays level and follows along the edge of a wetland area-- this is not the right one). At the junction follow trail up and to the right.

The trail is narrow, but very well maintained by the scouts, switchbacking through old growth firs, cedars, and large stands of Pacific Yew. Around 2 miles the trail cuts along under the waterfall-- you can't see them, but can hear them through the vine maples. Just past the usually dry creek crossing, look for a very rough and extremely steep trail up the right. It's about 100 yards of very tough going through vine maples, then waist high meadow gr! ass, but you finally flatten out at the base of the falls for some spectacular views-- Up and down.

When ready to return, you have two choices: easiest is to reverse your route, but for those wanting challenge, turn right and follow the trail as it skirts through talus fields above Camp Sheppard.

THIS IS NOT A TRAIL FOR THE TIMID and is very faintly marked--watch carefully for switchbacks in the middle of the talus field.

Note: This is backcountry wilderness travel. You are responsible for informing yourself of the hazards and taking the necessary precautions.
