Looking for an uncrowded hike and great views of Mt. Rainier? Hike away from it on the easy trail to Bench and Snow Lakes.
This is a short hike to a beautiful lake situated in a deep bowl. The walls of the bowl are topped with snow cirques, and the lake is so clear you can see into your own soul, if you stare long enough.
There are a couple of tent sites at the lake. The best photos of the mountain from the trail are as you round Bench Lake.
Getting there: Drive toward Paradise but turn off to Reflection Lake. The trailhead is shown on most maps.
Stats: 1.5 mile, 400' elevation gain, 300' loss, high point (halfway) 4680'.
Note: This is backcountry wilderness travel. Any trail can become very dangerous in winter conditions. You are responsible for informing yourself of the hazards and taking the necessary precautions. Please read Terms of Use.
