Cool Trails: Park Butte Lookout, WA Northwest Hiking Trails

Park Butte Lookout

"I would definitely recommend this trip to a friend."

A day off in the middle of the week sounded like a good opportunity to hit the trails so John and I drove an hour and a half from Oak Harbor to the trail head for Park Butte Lookout. The roads were in decent shape so it was not a bad ride.

It was cold at about 9:30 in the morning with a bit of snow when we started. There were some clouds and the trail was in good shape. Not much snow was encountered until after Morovitz Meadow and then there was a few inches until the Lookout. It was still fairly cold as we hiked higher, but our bodies were warm from hiking so it was comfortable.

There were great views of Mt. Baker and the surrounding mountains and forests from the Lookout, which was clean and looked pleasant, except for the mice warnings. It took us about three hours to hike up and about an hour and a half hiking down.
