This is a most fascinating area of the Cascades in central Oregon. Where lava cooled too fast to form rock, it formed glass instead. Cliffs of black glass, hundreds of feet high, jut above alpine meadows and tiny tarns. All this in clear view (most days) of the Three Sisters Wilderness.
