After another .5 miles, the trail soon enters the beautiful U-shaped upper Lostine Canyon at 7040ft. At this point, the river forms a large pool, with excellent fishing for small brook trout. Proceed for another 2 miles and climb the gentle switchbacks to the junction of Trail 1661 at 7619ft. Mirror Lake (El 7590ft) is to the left. There are several excellent campsites amidst the granite outcroppings surrounding the crystal clear waters. Fishing for small brook trout is generally very good in Mirror Lake.
