"I would probably recommend this trip to a friend."
Go past Monroe and Gold bar to the road after a fire station. Called Reiter road the go on this road untill you go past a gravel pit and a 4 wheeling course. then take a faint road to the left and go untill you see the power lines. then go under them and follow the road into the trees and there will be some big puddles but nothing bigger than 6 inches. after the puddes take the right at the fork in to road. This is an uphill climb. I am a leader with a boy scout group and we had a lot of fun. You start out by crossing a 20 ft creek (may creek) then there are two ways one you get wet and the other you cross over a log either one is safe and you don't get very wet if carefull. then the trail starts.
The trail is an old mining road now used for 4 wheeling and it is about three miles to the start of an actual trail. Near the last bend in the road there is a tree over a off branch road and that is the way to go.
Then under the tree you go and down the trail about 100 ft to a bridge. When you hit the bridge go across but no farther because the rest of the trail is a root scrable up the side of the creek. Make sure you climb up the right side.
Then this turns more into a backcountry trail ans it goes up the side of the creek through blown down trees and plant life. When you are about a mile from the lake you can find a old mining equipment that was powered by water ran down from the lake to a spining water wheel. Then it pumped water from the creek to the mine in the area along with another unknown place.
As you walk up and up and up you will find that the creek is about 300 ft long with a lot of 10 ft drops. The lake is great fishing and a great adventure. HAVE FUN------It's all down hill on the way out!!
