Lake Crescent North Shore Railroad Trail, Olympic National ParkTrip report by: Denis Du Bois
"I would probably recommend this trip to a friend."
Walking the trail and road combination the full length of Lake Crescent is a five-mile one-way undertaking, mostly on roads. But the railroad trail portion is only a couple of miles, perfectly level. It follows the lake shore, with nice views to the south. It would be a great trip for kids.
We rented a canoe for $10 at the Log Cabin Resort Marina and paddled along the same shoreline. It was early in the morning, so the powerboats hadn't roughed up the water yet. It was almost like glass. We turned around at a little cove, where the trail crosses a steel bridge. Then it was back to the resort for breakfast!
