Jolly Mtn

Trip report by: Randy Oakley

"I would definitely recommend this trip to a friend."

Late Nov 2002 -- El Nino Drought.

With no snow, but unusually dry, sunny and calm weather choose to scout out the Jolly Mountain ski tour route on foot. From the Salmon-le-Sac sno-pack I was able to drive the logging road the first two 1/2 miles to the first flat where the road was gated. Hiked the road to the ridge top (3.5 miles 1500 ft elevation gain) and then picked up the Sasse Mountain trail.

Snow patches appeared on the trail and once Soon the trail was snow covered once the intersection with the Jolly Creek trail was reached there was solid snow on the trail all the way to the summit. The summit rocks were bare however and provided glorious lounging on a windless sunny day and unfettered views. I was able to return to my car just before dusk.
