"I would definitely recommend this trip to a friend."
The Jolly Mountain trailhead is off the Salmon la Sac Rd by the horse camp. We went in late April and no one was there--and we didn't see anybody the whole day. The first mile was snow free and there was evidence of trail maintainence. At around 4200' we hit snow for the rest of the scramble. There were boottracks from fairly recently. As long as we stayed with the boottrack we didn't posthole too badly. Some clearcut and no water for the last 4 miles. Would be very hot in the summer. Great views of Mount Stuart. Would have views of Glacier Peak Mt Rainier Mt Adams on clear days.
A great early season scramble if you don't mind snow and some route finding.
