Northwest Hiking Trails

Greenwater Lakes

Trip report by: Teri Kruse

"I would definitely recommend this trip to a friend."

7/8/00 I took 4 teenagers, middleaged dog and middleaged self to walk the Grenwater Lakes Trail. We arrived at the trailhead lot at just past noon, and it was full. We parked in the back lot for horse trailers.

There was a beautiful mass of daisies circling the lot. All along the trail I saw countless wildflowers. I hadn't been to this trail for about 3 years; it was in poor shape. Exposed rocks and roots made for careful foot placement for me. There were still a few soggy places and a small stream is crossed on flat rocks. The beautiful river was crossed on several log bridges with handrails. In spite of the rough trail, I recommend the hike. It is appropriate for all ages. The elevation gain is insignificant, even for an out-of-shape mom like me!

I was quite dismayed by the group walking with open beers and apparently antisocial dogs. Rude on both counts. And there was quite a lot of small trash along the way. Pack it out!!
