A fun trip branching off from the old Monte Cristo road. When I have been here it has been busy. The trail starts off going up at a decent grade and then skirts around the hillside and then up again for the last bit to get to the basin. The basin is quite beautiful. Definitely walk up to the upper lake. You can do lots of rambling here along the open ridges, so come early and check out the higher points for even better views. I would say this trail is pretty average as far as difficulty goes. Not too strenuous.
