Trip report by: Martin Susser
If you like steep hikes, then this is the hike for you. The trail starts off steep, mellows out briefly at about the halfway point and then gets steeper! Be prepared to do some climbing.
Over all the hike is great. A wonderful climb throught the woods with Constance creek to your right. In two spots you will need to walk through constance creek. Roughly half way up there is half-acre rock (I think that's what it is called). It is huge and you can't miss it unless you are blind.
Lake Constance is a great place to just relax and camp. It is a small alpine lake surounded by tall peaks. Lots of boulders every where, but that is to be expected since all the peaks are made of pillow lava.
A fun but difficult climb is going up the boulder field on the east side of the lake. No trail, just a very long steep scamble. But you get a view of Hood Canal, the Cascades and a bit of the Olympics.
