Trip report by: David Bryant
This 22.6 mile roundtrip starts at the Dosewallips ranger station. I started late in the day, because of the flat start it made it easy to get to Big Timber Camp (4.2 miles) in 2 hours. It was a beautiful camp with pit potty and bear wire.
At this time there was a burn ban in the back- country. There were camping areas about 2 miles apart all the way to the glacier. A good night's sleep is recommended for the 7.1 mile hike to Anderson Glacier.
The trail is shaded most of the way to Anderson Pass. I would suggest packing 32oz. of water to get from stream to stream.
The trail from Honeymoon Meadow gets somewhat steep with clean switchbacks. Anderson Pass gives a beautiful view of Mt. Lacrosse. To the right is a .9 mile way trail to the glaciers, it gets strenuous up this great elevation gain.
When you get to the top take a right to nice campsites and another view of Mt. Lacrosse. The left trail takes you to a breathtaking view of Anderson Glacier which is the headwater of the Dosewallips river.
The trip back down was done in one shot, a total of 13 hours.
